We all search for purpose in our life. That purpose, for many, is a lifelong journey.
For me, that journey to seek purpose started in June 2019. Diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer with metastases to my liver, I began a new, challenging and certainly, unwanted journey. However, I did not endure this journey alone. With the support of family, friends, CCRAN and my medical team, my journey would be fought with passion, knowledgeable action and research. Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN) expedited the process by supporting me and my family with knowledge, through research and monthly meetings, advocating passionately through actionable steps all of which guided me to my treatment at Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Center.
Being admitted to an immunotherapy clinical trial in Dec 2019 proved to be the step that has now put me on the path to recovery. Although my early days on this journey were tough and challenging, today I can say I’m feeling great! And through this journey I found my purpose. To live an
extraordinary life. Helping others much like CCRAN has helped me is a flag I wave proudly. The advocacy, knowledge, and support are the pillars of CCRAN. And I have learned that this disease is highly preventable through screening. We need to get the word out to help avoid diagnoses like mine – I was diagnosed at such an early age.
CCRAN has been by my side every step of the way throughout my journey. I am humbled and forever grateful for the tireless support that CCRAN has provided.
